Privacy Policy
Header is made by Morrowfield Labs, Inc. This policy covers the Header app for Mac and this website.
Your notes
Header works on a folder of Markdown files that you choose. Your notes, attachments, and Header's own history and settings stay on your Mac, or in the sync service you chose for that folder, such as iCloud Drive or Dropbox. We do not receive a copy of your notes.
The Header app does not include analytics, advertising, or tracking, and it does not send usage data to us.
AI features
AI features are optional. Cloud AI stays off until you add a provider. On supported Macs, some features can use Apple Intelligence on the device.
- Your own cloud provider. If you add an API key for a provider such as OpenAI, Anthropic, or Mistral, Header sends the text needed for the action you chose directly to that provider. By default it shows you a preview of that text first; you can turn the preview off in Settings. That provider's own terms and privacy policy apply. Your key is stored in your Mac's Keychain.
- Ollama. Requests go to the Ollama address you configure.
- Apple Intelligence. On supported Macs, on-device requests are handled by macOS. If you turn on Private Cloud Compute, Apple's terms for that service apply.
Features that use the internet
Some features connect to the internet only when you use them: clipping a web page, looking up research metadata (for example from Crossref or arXiv), and showing images or videos that a note links to.
Beta testing through TestFlight
The beta is distributed through Apple's TestFlight. Apple shares with us the information TestFlight provides to developers, such as your name and email address if you were invited by email, and crash reports and feedback you choose to send through TestFlight. We use this only to run the beta and fix problems.
Email and the community forum
If you email us, we keep your message and address to reply and to send you beta updates you asked for. If you join our community forum, its own privacy policy applies to what you post there.
This website
This website uses no cookies, analytics, or tracking scripts. It is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes standard request information, such as IP addresses, to deliver and protect the site.
Your choices
You can use Header without any AI provider. To ask what we hold about you, or to have it deleted, email support@morrowfieldlabs.com.
Changes
We will update this page if our practices change, and change the date at the top.
